A change of scenery

I’ve been feeling like my current job doesn’t have as much opportunity for advancement as I would have liked. I like my co-workers, and I like what I do, but every once in a while everything around here gets turned upside down, and I never seem to come out any better for it, no matter what effort I put in or what successes I have.

So, I’ve been looking around to see what other opportunities might be available. I’ve got a job interview with a company in Norcross this afternoon, and a technical phone interview with a quite-well-known company on Monday. Wish me luck

Chad Vader (Darth Vader’s under-achieving brother) is the day shift manager at a local grocery store. He uses his Sith powers to help him deal with his employees, and his arch-nemesis, Clint, the night manager.

“Clarissa, I noticed your shift ends at six o’clock tonight. I would like you to meet me at Keno’s pizzaria facility to, um, discuss some plans I have for a more powerful laser checkout system… And for dinner.”

Payola – what a fun word to say!

There’s a big scandal going on in the music industry over payola, or as They Might Be Giants said, “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch your record.”

It’s a standard thing in retail for suppliers to pay retailers for shelf space, and prices are set according to proximity to the customer – adult eye level is the most expensive space. Well, except for kids eye level.

So why is it wrong for a radio station to get paid for what they play?

Gunters.org Relaunch

Welcome to the latest incarnation of the Temple of Gunters. This new version of the site is running WordPress. During the conversion, I tracked down and eliminated a ton of comment spam that had accumulated on the old site. The new site will be more resistant to comment spam.

The old site also didn’t support categories, so most articles here are currently “Uncategorized”. Hopefully that will change over time.

The theme I’m using is still in beta testing, so it might have a few kinks here and there, but it seems fairly solid so far. Just let me know if you run into any odd problems.
